My uncle was Carroll 'Skippy' Pamplin. He was one of the most generous, wonderful men I have ever known. He touched lives and made a positive difference in his students. He had a number of gifts... one of which was the gift of laughter - he was always making us laugh, and of course, laughing with us. I love and miss him to this day. Thank you for the beautiful way you have paid tribute to him and the rest of the classmates that are no longer with us. God Bless you all.

I graduated AHS 1955; but, was member of 1956. Glancing through the rosters takes me a long way back and my feelings run the gamut. I remember most of you very fondly and can recall some really hysterically funny times. My address is 806 Signal Ridge Place, Rockwall, TX 75032. email is gmalbritton@earthlink.net. If anyone cares to see how I've spent 50 years, the sort of official version can be seen at www.JohnAAlbritton.com under History of the firm. My best to all of you who remember the good times.

Your AHS web site is great! Although I graduated from PDHS in '56, I will always remember the guys I played basketball with at AHS. However, it was a great experience to be a small part of starting a new tradition at PDHS in 1956.. We all look forward to seeing old friends at the joint AHS & PDHS breakfast at our 50th reunion. God Bless!

Looks like the consensus is in, Charlie and Sondra - you all have done a wonderful job putting everything together for a 50th Reunion! And I expect the comments afterwards will all be positive and full of gratitude. I noticed Peter Ingwersen's comments and address. Wasn't he an exchange student? I find myself thinking of all the experiences that 50 years beyond high school represent for all of us. Everyone sounds upbeat, which is so fun. Gee, I hate to miss Rex's new magic tricks! I'll be thinking of all of you in gratitude for briefly sharing life with you at AHS.

I thought I had already signed the guest book when it first started, but alas, I don't see myself there. Hah..then again, I'm lucky enough to see anything. I have attended many of the committee meetings, and while I didn't do much, I cheered them on. They have all done a fantastic job, and my thoughts to them is "BRAVO". I am so looking forward to seeing all of you, and as I read through, looked at pictures, the memories flooded in. Now, while I reconize the pictures from the last annual, you may have to tap me on the shoulder and tell me who you are. So many of your names have touched my life in so many ways, and I hope to hug you all once more at the reunion. Love to all and to all you love. Mac

I am the widow of Jerry A. McAnally who was a member of your class of 1956 As you probably know Jerry quit in the senior year to join the Navy where he spent the next 20 years of his life serving his country. During that time he went a lot of places and saw a lot of different country. One of which was vietnam. We met and were married while he was stationed in Philadelphia, Pa. in May of 1968. We did quite a lot of traveling while we were married. We have two grown sons Steven-33 who lives in Wilmington, NC and goes to school studing to be an architect and is still single. Patrick-31 is in the Navy just like dear dad was. He just made chief and is married with four children ages Riley-10,Katie-8,Courtney-6 and Savannah-3. In Nov. he will have been for 13 years. Jerry had two daughters from a previous marriage Debbie-43 with five children Penny-23 and daughter Isabella-1; Douglas 22 and son Doug of 6mo; Timothy 20, Travis-18 and Ruben 13. Then Diana-40 with Brandon-21 and Samanatha-18. Some of which are in college the live in New Mexico except for Do! ug and his family live in Amarrillo. when Jerry retired from the Navy in 1975 we came back to North Carolina and that is where we spent the rest of his life. Jerry went home to be with the Lord on March 7, 1996 He always spoke of his high school with fond memories of everyone. I know that he would love to be there with you and that he is there in spirit. Hope all of you have a great time and enjoy yourselves. I would have loved to have met all of you. Frances McAnally

SANTA FE, N.M. - Jack Mobley, 68, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2006. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in McGee Memorial Chapel. Jack Mobley - aviator, iconoclast, contrarian, good neighbor - died early Monday morning after a brief illness. His daughter, Tracy Mobley-Martinez, was at his side when he passed into the infinite. Mobley, 68, was born in Amarillo, Texas, the second son of Bill and Maurece Mobley. He graduated from Amarillo High School in the class of '56 and went on four years later to obtain his bachelor's from the University of Colorado. He married and divorced, having only one child. Mobley moved to Santa Fe in the mid-'70s, abandoning a career in airport management, to work for a position with the New Mexico Environmental Evaluation Group. He retired in the mid-'80s, and lived a solitary life of few luxuries. If you asked him, he'd likely have told you he had few friends, but he quietly touched many lives, especially in his southwest Santa Fe neighborhood. Mobley was a good man, a loving father who was generous to his own detriment and a person who saw possibilities where others saw limitations. Survivors include his beloved cat, Katy; a daughter, Tracy; a brother, Bill Mobley; a niece, Nancy Jackson; and a nephew, Mike Mobley. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to the Santa Fe Humane Society. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 12, 2006

The site is great. It's fun to read and remember. In 1998, my wife Louise and I moved from Houston to live in a small town of 1930 people. She's a retired teacher and I'm starting my 39 year as a real estate broker. My office is in College Station. We sell houses to Aggies, their parents and grandparents. Any prospects out there. Keep the updates coming I enjoy knowning where folks are and what they are doing. Thanks to all of you working on the Reunion. Job well done!

I can't get the e-mail you gave me to work!! (Gee, guess I'll have to resort to real mail--I did find your address again!) Johnny G--we have eaten in your restaurant in Heppner--what a surprise when I found out that YOU were that Johnny! We visited friends there two or three times. Cherry

Kudos to all the committee on your endeavor and work to make this such an event! I've moved and been "lost", but Flo Ann came to my aid and directed me to the website! It doesn't seem like we've become "seniors"...these comments sound like fun to me - I'll be there with what memory I have left!! The fire video was fascinating but sad - didn't realize that was so long ago.

Gene, you've done a great job with the website. I just read the guestbook entries and they really are an incentive to get back together with all our '56 Sandies! For Philip Folsom--you better durn well show up! We've got to relive the cold night when you, Gary Glascoe and I were driving around tossing cherry bombs out the window of his dad's car---when you just happened to get out of sequence and rolled up the back window BEFORE I could toss the lit firecracker out! Even after 50 years, my ears are still ringing!! Hope to see you all in '06. Carroll

But have always been happy that we made the move. I look forward to renewing old friendships. Thanks, committee for all of your hard work.

AMAZING WEBSITE! Can't wait to take time to read all the guestbook entries! Was back in Amarillo last September to bury my mother next to my father. Class of '54 and (I think) '55 was having their 50th reunion in the same hotel I was staying! Started thinking about ours. SO GLAD that Charles B. and everyone has done such an AMAZING job of getting this started. Pat Langwell Weaver, thanks for the poem and for attending my mother's burial service. Can't wait to see all of you! Susan Slater Edenborough -- how about a game of tennis!! Anybody want to sing the Randall Thompson Alleluia??? (A Cappella Choir theme song!!) Betty

I was surprised to find several of the classmates living here in the Houston area. I will have to re-learn the school song. It does not look like anything I have ever seen. Gene, You certainly built a great website for all of us old Sandies to check out. Thanks for so much hard work. Looking forward to our 50th reunion. My husband, Jerry Smith, should have graduated with all of us, but quit school and joined the Navy. He got his GED and went on to college and got his degree at West Texas State University after his tour of duty was over. He is still one of us and of course, will be there with me in 06, Good Lord willing. Will enjoy checking out the website often. Charlie, thanks again for all of the hard work and time you have given to all of the 1956 graduates. Barbara

However, I would like to continue to receive news of the upcoming reunion and hope to be ab! le to attend, if that's okay for non-graduates. Great job with the website...my congratulations to all involved.

This is Chris Cadenhead, Class '58. Class of '56 Good web site!! The class of '58 has a site that is very active; the ability to reconnect with high school friends has reminded us of how much fun we had at that point in time. We are looking for Johnny Don Carter. In talking with others in our class, Dicky Stovall and Denny Workman, they reminded me that Johnny has a sister in the class of '56. We are trying to locate Johnny by contacting Gerry Carter, his sister. She is listed on page 25 of the 1956 annual. I have also placed this same message on the '57 website. Gerry's activities listed on Pg. 243 are: Y-teens 2; AY 2,3,4; FHA 2,3; La Airosa 2; Los Viajeros 2; Student Council 2,3,4; Thespians 4. I have listed these in hopes that maybe someone in any one of these activities might have stayed in contact with her or point us in a particular direction. We have used many search sites without success, so we are hoping this effort will be more fruitful. If anyone knows Gerry, we would appreciate knowing how to contact her. Or anyone who might know if she is married and the married name, the last known address, where she worked in Amarillo anything that might help us locate Gerry. If anyone knows how to contact her, and would feel more comfortable in giving her our e-mail address: ccadenhead@satx.rr.com that would be great too. Any help will be appreciated. Chris Cadenhead

To the Webmaster, this is a very nice website, congratulations. I didn't go to Amarillo High (I was class of '56, Austin High El Paso), but lived in Amarillo till age 15 and know many of you codgers. If possible I'll attend your Reunion because, I have business in town and can maybe arrange it at that time. I was at the 1996 Reunion, what an amazing surprise to see friends of so many years past. What a joy to have a website. The information it already has on it is phenominal. Just wait til its finished! We on the reunion planning committee look forward to locating many of our classmates --those currently missing -- through this website. Please be sure to let us hear from any of you who know the whereabouts of the missing. Also, the committee is having a great time together as we make plans for the reuion. We invite others who would like to join in the fun to let us hear from you. I look forward to hearing from many good friends and long lost classmates. This reunion will enable us to make a whole new bunch of new and lasting memories together. Needless to say, I can hardly wait for the actual event.

PLEASE: for those of us who migrated from Amarillo, either arrange a tour of the new Amarillo, or prepare a map so we can do it on our own. Stayed in Amarillo since graduation, except for living for a few years in Childress while Ron was with the railroad. That's where our two oldest children were born. In '66, we moved back to good 'ol Amarillo and have been here ever since. We always enjoy our class reunions and are looking forward to the one that is now in the planning stages.
